Many Rochestarians succumbed to the 1918 flu pandemic and are buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Some graves are mentioned in Daniel Cody's "Rochester Coughed The 1918 Influenza Epidemic in Rochester, New York". Others are listed as possible flu victims because they are buried in the same section of single-grave plots as other confirmed flu victims. A few are listed as likely flu victims because the death date is in Oct. or Nov. of 1918 when a majority of deaths were caused by the flu.
